I am so excited, the teleprompter app I use for book talks is adding a video component! This will eleminate the use of two iPads needed in order to film. I love this app! Students are able to write scripts and then paste them in the teleprompter. Students are also able to highlight text in different colors. This comes in handy when multiple students want to do a booktalk. The scrolling script is easy to adjust also. My students are able to work this app with ease and now with the added video capability, I will be able to get twice as much complete in the same amount of time!!! The video component will not be avialable until September, and will be a seperate app purchase. It will launch September 8th and the cost is $5.99 for the first 48 hours. Can't wait to try it! Hopefully the library will be able to create more Auras with Aurasma
http://ipadteleprompter.com/blog/introducing-video-teleprompter/ We are so excited. Our TPE tigers continue to use the Kindle Fires. Our first grade classes have already used the Kindle Fires as part of their literacy centers. Check back to see how teachers have implemented these into their centers.
It has been a while since I have posted an update of our Kindle Fire use. Our students have been using them in a variety of grade levels. Our favorite apps are still the whiteboard and sticky note app. Our students have been using the Kindle Fires to research on the web and they have been used in research using our new database of eBooks - Trueflix from Scholastic. We now have found a QR reader app that works well with Kindle Fires, thanks to one of Craven County's Technology Coaches Kelly Williamson. Thanks to Jill Darrough, one of Craven County's Technology Coaches, we have added more books to our Kindle Fires. Our students have continued to use Storia from Scholastic. In the library our kindergartners were able to use text features and discover how dolphins are different from fish. Next time they will share their learning by using Infused Learning. If you have not yet had a chance to use the free website, please refresh your memory of its use. It is great use for formative assessments.
Our second grade classes have been using the Kindle Fires to access online sources for research. Second grade has learned how to access online encyclopedias through NC WiseOwl to explore topics for research. Our second graders have accessed additional websites, videos and images to better understand their topics of research. Topics of research are varied throughout the grade levels from race cars to animals based on student interest. Our first graders have also used the Kindle Fires during literacy circles. The most used apps have been our whiteboard app and the sticky note app. An advantage of the sticky note app is that students are able to have the Kindle Fire read back to them their writing.
Our first and second graders are using the Kindle Fires for research. We read The Littlest Pilgrim and talked about historical fiction. We then began to ask questions and formed the research questions "Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving" and "What happened at the first Thanksgiving". We are now using the Kindle Fire to access a nonfiction book about the first Thanksgiving.
K-2 students are using the Kindle Fires in the media center. Our students are learning how to handle the Kindle Fires and navigate apps. We are reading books in the Black Lagoon series using the Storia app and learning about the author, Mike Thaler. One of the 5th grade classes are using the Kindle Fires as part of literacy centers. We have four rules when using the Kindle Fires
This year we are starting off the year by reading the Black Lagoon Book Series by Mike Thaler. Our students and teachers will be reading and participating in Black Lagoon activities. Our students will read Black Lagoon books in print and digital formats. We are downloading several Black Lagoon e-books using the Storia App on the Kindle Fires. We will be using the Kindle Fires within the first few days of school.
Our teachers use InfuseLearning, Storia, Evernote, Skitch, virtual sticky notes and other apps to engage students and to enhance learning.
