I was a little disappointed that my Lego Story Starter kit was not able to be shipped with my Donor's Choose grant. Instead I have Osmos on the way. So very excited for the students at Trent Park Elementary. Take a look....

I can't wait!!! Our materials for our first makerspaces is on the way from Donors Choose. Thanks a million! The materials that our library will receive will be able to spark the creativity of our students and allow students to practice problem solving skills. Our library will receive LEGO Education DUPLO Story Tales, LEGO Creative Brick Box, Elenco Snap Circuits, Goldie Blox and Roominate Chateau. It will be interesting to witness the creativity in our students.
We appreciate our local businesses for supporting Trent Park Elementary. Neuse Blvd. Cinema donated popcorn bags for us to use during our book fair. Piggly Wiggly on Simmons St. donated shopping bags for our students to carry home their purchases. They even delivered the bags to the school! We appreciate your support and your commitment to education. We are lucky to have these local businesses supporting our students. Please support the businesses that support us. Our Book Fair is underway. We have had a great time so far! Students are previewing the fair and will bring home their wishlists. The book fair is going on now until Nov. 4th in the TPE Media Center. If you are unable to make it to the fair or have relatives and friends from out of town that would like to buy for you or themselves, checkout ouronline fair. Shop online until Nov. 7th. This is really cool!!!! There are more selections online than can be found at the fair! The best part is when you order online, your selections will be shipped free to the school and delivered to the student once the fair has ended. I am so excited!!! Anyone can order for you and it can be delivered to you, the student. For more information just call Mrs. Sittig 252-514-6481. To visit the fair go to http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/tpe and choose shop online. Help our library and our students gain access to more books. It is an exciting time at TPE!!!
We are so excited about this year's Battle of the Books. Our students have been working hard and reading the books. We just ordered another set of books on half.com. We were able to get hardcover books for a great price...thanks to our volunteer Coach, Mrs. Torres. Thanks so much to our coaches: Guidance Counselor, Ms. Forro, and our volunteer, Mrs. Torres. Our team is meeting before school and during lunch. Today we made some connections with similarities found in the books we have read so far. Next week we will hopefully all be on Edmodo.
Yes, this is my favorite tech tool for my personal writing. I use this in grad school and for my professional writing. PaperRater I discovered this tool over a year ago. It is a free online grammar checker and is easy to use. When I first began using PaperRater, it only offered grammar checking for high school education level writing and up. I just recently discovered it offers services for as low as first grade - which explains my excitement. To use, just paste the content of your writing into the online proofreader. If you are writing a paper that includes citations, an additional place is provided to add those. After you have placed your writing in the proofreader, just choose the education level of the author and the type of paper you are submitting (which is another part of love), agree to the terms and submit. The paper submitted will be scored on grammar, spelling, word choice and vocabulary. The site will also give suggestions and explain why a word or phrases are flagged for review. There are other online grammar checkers that offer more insight, but I have found this is sufficient for my needs and free.
Here are a couple of other features offered with PaperRater Confused Words Vocabulary Builder
Who Has What? 2 is an app that will help you keep track of items lent to others. Add your inventory and then lend items by selecting the item in inventory and then enter the name and email of person you are lending the item to. Items can be put in inventory by entering the item name and taking a picture of the item or just by simply scanning the item's barcode. I see this useful for a teacher's classroom library. Never again worry about who has your book. Simply choose the item and enter the student's name and Gmail, choose a due date and then you're done. The app will post notifications of due items. Send a reminder to return the item through the app. This is also great for materials that are shared by the grade level or by multiple grade levels that are not barcode through the library. The app is .99 but completely worth it. This and infuse learning are my top two favorite
